I finally started putting up our Christmas decorations. I am a day behind on putting up decorations around the house, but better late than never. I feel that December goes by so fast and there are so many Christmas decorations to put up, why not get them up as soon as possible.
I did miss the annual Francis Park Tree Lighting since I am fighting a cold, so it doesn’t quite feel like Christmas until we get our tree. We are planning on getting it this weekend. I do enjoy going up and down rows of trees and finding the perfect one for Scott to cut down.
But here are a few of the decorations we have up around the house.
A new hobby I have is checking out Pinterest and seeing what I can create or get new recipe ideas. It’s been helpful in getting some baby ideas as well. So Sunday while we were enjoying our new couches and football, I came across a fun way to use apples. Since we went apple picking a few weeks ago and still have tons of apples, what better way to use them.
Scott remembered that we had a bunch of tea light candles and then it was off to the races.
First he cut the top off the apples and then cut a whole in the apple to fit the candle inside.
Once the candle is set inside light it up and enjoy the apple smell through out the house!
It seems the craft bug has hit me. I’m going to blame Pinterest for all my desires to be crafty and spend time at Hobby Lobby. The site has shown me some pretty easy, yet fun decorating designs. Some have been easier than other but each time I’ve found a new way to create holiday decor.
This weekend Zipf and I hit up Hobby Lobby, Ben Franklin, and Hancock Fabrics for some foam, felt and pins. All to make shamrock wreaths. We gathered all our material and got crafty this weekend. It started with me cutting hearts from a sheet of styrofoam.
That was probably the hardest part. I cut out a few circles, traced from a can of beans.
Then slowly pinned them all on the hearts.
I even worked on some Easter decorations that I had started earlier in the week. I made some candy jars and the spray painted the lids white to hide the Prego and Clausen lid. I bought a couple of candle holders that I still need to paint white to finish the look.
